It is immoral to nickname Somaliland citizen the name Morgan. I do not know whether the journalist who writes such names like Morgan do that immoral deeds deliberately or without knowing the background of the name. in an effort to enlighten Somaliland public who is Morgan, please few factual information about Morgan.
Mohammed Said Hersi Morgan. He was the son in law of siyad barre and minister of defence of Somalia responsible for many atrocities committed against the people of Somaliland and many parts of ex-Somalia during the Barre government from 1981 and until the collapse of the regime in January 1991. In 1988, operations conducted by the Barre government against Somali national movements (SNM) in the northern part of the country, that he was the main leader has led to the death and imprisonment of thousands of innocent civilians by the Somali National Army.
Hersi Morgan was in charge of these operations, and thus became known as the “Butcher of Hargeisa.Mohammed. Said Hersi led the shelling and bombing of Hargeisa over two months. Bombing and shelling took place in the northern ex-Somalia regions had led the deaths of an estimated over 50, 000.00 people and caused a refuges over 500, 000. 00 to the neighbouring counties, mainly ethiopia. After the fall of the government on 26 January, 1991 Mohammed Said Hersi together with Siad Barre fled from Mogadishu to the South-West of the country. In Gedo he regrouped the army. Together with Barre’s son General Maslah, Mohammed Said Hersi went abroad through Kenya on an arms purchasing mission. According to a report of the Minority Rights Group based in Britain] they purchased $27 Million worth of arms and petroleum at various black markets. Mohammed Said Hersi became the chairman of the newly founded Somali national front (SNF); the remains of the Somalia national army functioned as its militia.
Taking into consideration the horrific memories explained above, is it right to nickname Somaliland citizen a similar name to the person who commits the genocide that is talked about in the above simply because, he is the son in law of the president elected by 50 % of our population. In reality, those who writes such names lacks moral responsibility, moral power, or moral authority and therefore, the innocent citizen affected by this character assassination must take legal action for the so-called journalist who accustomed to continue deliberate spoiling image of innocent citizen. They should hold responsible for their dishonour deeds. The so-called journalists who write such names like should know, it is unethical to spoil the images of others for the sake hidden agenda as this violates moral principles and against the with principles of personal and social ethics. Unquestionably any true citizens who is familiar with the genocides committed by Mohammed Said Hersi Morgan shared an identical view with me.
