Hargeisa (SDN)-A confrontation between civilians and government soliders resulted in multiple casualties and injuries in Hargeisa, Somaliland today.
The dispute took place in the neighbourhood of Ga’an Libaah in the city of Hargeisa. Casualties were reported on both sides after members of the community attempted to forcibly take over a parcel of land known as “warshada kabista” where soldiers were stationed, the soldiers took a defensive position and an all-out battle ensued between the two sides.
According to SDN’s sources on the ground, there have been multiple deaths and injuries. Residents and soldiers injured in the fighting have been taken to hospital. The exact number of casualties and injuries has not yet been confirmed.
