Somaliland President announces the start of voter registration in Marodijeh region

HARGEISA – President Ahmed M. Silanyo has today officially announced the commencement of Voter Registration Exercise in Marodijeh province.

The VR exercise is to begin in Marodijeh region on 30th April2016.

A ceremony held at Gulied Hotel saw the attendance of Somaliland government officials, national political parties, and the National Election Commission.

Residents living in this region who are all eligible voters to get enlisted in the forthcoming presidential elections.

President Ahmed has made his commitment that he is determined to hold free and fair elections in the country.

In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony, the president has reiterated that the voter registration is a backbone to the democratization process.

Voter registration was delayed after the country experienced one of the worst droughts.
