Talks in Doha collapse as Israeli delegation leaves talks

Doha March 19, 2024 (QJ) -The Israeli delegation left Doha without any tangible progress being made in the Gaza ceasefire talks with Hamas, but mediators remain hopeful, according to a Qatari official.

An Israeli delegation led by Mossad Chief David Barnea visited the Qatari capital of Doha for talks, but after a day of negotiations, no concrete results were achieved. However, stakeholders still hold hope for restarting discussions in the coming weeks.

This development comes as Israel prepares to respond to a Hamas-proposed ceasefire plan.

The ongoing, direct negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar and Egypt, have marked the first high-level meetings in Doha in months, and mediators believe that a deal could still be reached.
