Mogadishu (SDN)- Mogadishu’s Manhal Hospital currently conducts 800 eye surgeries every month according to Mehmet Citil, the President of the Turkish NGO Yardimeli whose organization is assisting Manhal hospital.
Seven months ago practitioners from the ophthalmology clinic at the Manhal hospital located in the city of Hargeysa also travelled to Mogadishu to give a helping hand to the people of Somalia who have been burdened by poor health outcomes in general, and eye diseases in particular.
The head of the Yardimeli organization told press from the AA network in Turkey that Turkey plays a key role in providing support to the Manhal Hospital which undertakes these important surgeries.
Many non-governmental, humanitarian and development organizations from Turkey are taking an active role in service provision in Somalia.
