Kenya and Ethiopia Discuss Joint Operations in Somalia

Nairobi (SDN)-The government of Kenya is in talks with the Ethiopian government over a strategy to remove Al-Shabaab from the city of Kismayo in Somalia where both armies have been engaged in an ongoing battle with the group.

Sources directly involved have informed Somali Diaspora News that the government of Kenya has requested international forces tasked with patrolling the waters off the coast of Somalia to prevent ships docked at Kismayo from leaving.

According to the Kenyans, they do not want leaders from Al Shabaab using the port as an escape route when they attack the city.

They also want the European armed forces present to do more to mitigate piracy of the coast of Somalia.

All in all it is becoming increasingly apparent that Al-Shabab has been surrounded by all sides and that the majority of their strongholds have been taken over by coalition forces.

Kenyan and Ethiopian Armies conducted operations in Shabab held territories in South central but so far gains are limited.

Somalia is without central Government since the collapse of the Siad Bare Regime in 1991.
