Second Phase of Jubba Reconciliation Conference Opens in Kismayo

The second phase of a reconciliation conference for communities in Jubba and Gedo regions opened in Kismayo on Sunday (April 27th) and will continue for two weeks, UN-funded Radio Bar-Kulan reported.

The conference, organised by the Somali government, is a follow-up to the first session held in Mogadishu in November 2013, and builds on its themes of building lasting peace and stability in the region. It includes participants from the Interim Jubba Administration (IJA), the Somali federal government and local communities.

IJA Vice President Abdullahi Ismail Fartag called the conference “a historic moment” for the people in the Jubba region.
