Hargeisa, Oct 28, 2013 (SDN) -Somaliland’s minister of finance Abdiaziz Mohamed Samale, one of the main contenders for the ruling party’s leadership has expressed confidence in the formation of Kulmiye’s upcoming third convention organizing committee. Samale expressed these sentiments during a meeting today that took place at the presidential palace in which president Silanyo met with the organizing committee of the third forthcoming Convention of country’s ruling party Kulmiye which is scheduled to kick off on December this year.
The finance minister also stated that the ruling party will go down on country’s history since the party achieved genuine strides in the right direction ever since the party assumed the country’s leadership three years ago.
The Kulmiye Party, which clinched the country’s top seat in June 2010 presidential election, will hold its third Convention on December 25 to elect a new Central Committee which will run the party until the next convention and which also will select the politburo which in turn will choose the leader of the party.
Minister Samale, a religious cleric-turned politician, was the first to throw his hat into the ring, heralding stiff competition for the ruling party’s leadership race.
The former deputy chairman of the House of Representatives has announced his candidature for the chairmanship of the ruling Kulmiye party earlier this year and his entry into the fray was deemed an apparent attempt to deny long serving deputy and current party leader Mr. Musa Bihi from the top position thus subsequent party presidential candidate in planned 2015 elections.
