The Norwegian Refugee Council is alarmed over the escalating violence in the West Bank

Gaza (QJ) – The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has expressed “alarm” over the escalating violence in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza ceasefire came into effect last week.

“We are witnessing chaotic patterns of unlawful use of force in the West Bank that are unnecessary, indiscriminate, and disproportionate. This underscores the tactics Israeli forces have employed in Gaza,” said Angelita Caredda, NRC’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, in a statement.

“Under international law, Israel must immediately end its occupation of Palestinian territory. Until then, it must fully comply with its obligations as an occupying power, including the protection of civilians.”

At least 12 Palestinians have been killed, and dozens more injured, in an Israeli military assault that began on Tuesday in Jenin, in the northern West Bank.
