Hargeisa, Oct 17, 2013 (SDN) -President Silanyo’s decision to extend the term of the national political parties registration and verification committee (NPPR&VC) by an extra two years has triggered the opposition leaders to condemn president Silanyo’s decision. Chairman of Justice and Welfare party (UCID) Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe and parliamentarian Ibrahim Jama Rayte and Mr. Qabille have strongly criticized president Silanyo’s decision to extend the term of the NPPR&VC for another two years.
While speaking to Geeska Afrika newspaper On Tuesday UCID Member of Parliament Mr. Qabille said that the president should have a medical test to certain his health status and in order to know if he is capable to make sound judgment in his day to day work, because he seems not to respect the countries laws.
Similarly, UCID leader Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe said that president Silanyo’s move to extend the already expired term of NPPR&VC unconstitutional and abuse of power on the side of the president H.E Ahmed Mohamud to bypass election law No 14 that limits the commission term to two years only.
Faisal also said that this shows that the president is not doing his work the way he should, he signs whatever is put on the desk without verifying if it’s legal or illegal. “The president was supposed to consult the opposition before enacting the decree”. Faisal said.
UCID chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe has became a critic of President Silanyo’s leadership since the disqualification of Faisal from the Somaliland’s representatives for the Turkey sanctioned talks with the federal government of Somalia.
Previously UCID chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe had publicly condemned what he termed non-elected figures who took over the power from President Ahmed Mohamed Siilaanyo.
In an interview he gave to Universal TV last week Faisal has played down that president Siilaanyo was really the exact person leading the country saying inappropriate individuals abducted the president’s will. “We see that the country is under the control of those who were not elected. They are those telling to do everything.” Mr Waraabe said in an interview with Universal TV.
