Dubai, 10 Dec 2013 (SDN) -Somaliland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Bihi Yunis has on Monday met with Sheik Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nayhan, one of the ruling Family of the UAE in Dubai.
“We had a very impressive talk with Sheik Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nayhan and he has expressed his interest to invest in Somaliland,” Mr. Yunis said. “This is my second visit to the UAE and we discussed on how we can foster more trade ties between our two countries.”
“We discussed with Sheik Khalid Bin Said Al Nayhan, energy, oil, infrastructure and water projects in Somaliland that were pledged and to be implemented,” Mr. Yunis said.
“We have businessmen who operate financial exchanges, cargo services import and so many more based out of the UAE”, stated Hon Bihi.
Sheik Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nayhan is the Chairman and Founder of the Bin Zayed Group, a leading conglomerate established in 1988 with diverse business interests in the local and international markets.
The Bin Zayed Group’s key activities comprise Real-Estate and Contracting, Trading, Technology Development and Islamic Insurance (Takaful and Re-Takaful). Sheikh Khaled’s business achievements include his role as Chairman of SALAMA, the largest Takaful and Re-Takaful Company in the
Hon Mohamed Bihi Yunis is expected to meet with officials from the largest humanitarian organization in the UAE tomorrow.
Somaliland FM assured His UAE counterpart that Somaliland is open for business and that any UAE national who wants to invest in the country is welcomed to do so.
The UAE and Somaliland have in the years developed close cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, the fight against piracy and regional affairs.
Somaliland has a long-established trade and commercial relations with the UAE.
The UAE is on the final leg of trip which Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs embarked on two weeks ago covering three countries notably Uganda, UK and the UAE.
