Hargeisa, June 7, 2013 (SDN) — Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Silaanyo” on Thursday night paid a morale-boosting visit to Timacade basketball stadium to watch the basketball game between Marodijeh region and Sanaag region, saying he was very happy to their good performances. Even with government officials in the basketball arena, President Silanyo was the biggest hit at Timacade Stadium on Thursday night. President Silanyo stayed all the four quarters of the game and watched the Marodijeh region’s 54-27 victory over Sanaag region. He visited both players of the two regions before the game, signed basketballs and shook hands with dozens of fans. Somaliland basketball federation Chairman Mr. Mohamoud Hassan Abdilahi “Qodax” who spoke to the fans before the game welcomed the president to Basketball arena, saying that Somaliland basketball has reached up to standard. It was President Silanyo’s first visit to Timacade stadium since he came to office in 2010. President Silanyo also spent a few minutes chatting with Somaliland basketball federation Chairman Mr. Mohamoud Hassan Abdilahi “Qodax” who has done a lot to improve the basketball game in the country.
