Britain Invites Somalia President to G8 Summit in London

Mogadishu, June 15, 2013 (SDN) – A delegation led by the president of the federal republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud will attend the G8 summit in London today. The president got an official invitation from the prime minister of Britain Mr. David Cameron. The president is accompanied by high government delegation including Somalia’s finance minister Mr. Mohamud Hassan and the governor of Somalia’s central bank Mr. Abdisalam Haji Hadiye among other government delegation. Mr. Mohamud will also attend a special ceremony at the queen’s palace and is also scheduled to have a private meeting with the Britain’s prime minister. The president will meet leaders of donor countries who will attend the G8 meeting. Leaders of Somalia’s federal government have been working hard to re-establish their diplomatic relationships with the leaders of the international community for the past months in efforts to rebuild the country after the two decade civil war.
