Al Shabaab claims attack on Pearl Hotel In Mogadishu

Mogadishu June 10, 2023 (SD) – Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s devastating attack on Pearl Hotel, located at Liido Beach.

The attack, which lasted for several hours, resulted in significant casualties and injuries.

Government forces recently confirmed that they successfully repelled the attack on the hotel.

The authorities also stated that they eliminated up to five militants belonging to Al-Shabaab, while dozens of individuals were rescued.

According to Al-Shabaab, the attack targeted Pearl Hotel,  claiming that the area was occupied by military and government officials of the Somali National Army.

As per Al-Shabaab’s statement, the planned attack targeted individuals were of significant importance to the ongoing operations against the militant group.

They further mentioned that their fighters engaged in an extended battle within the hotel premises.

Al-Shabaab said the deaths of 29 people in the attack, along with several others sustaining injuries.

However, it should be noted that the exact identities of those killed or injured in the attack have not been disclosed.
