ATMIS Troops contributors to meet in Mogadishu

Mogadishu January 30, 2023 (QJ) – The leaders of neighboring countries with troops in Somalia are expected to arrive in Mogadishu in the coming days to attend a security summit.

A delegation arrived today, including the Defense Minister and military commander of Djibouti. The summit will focus on security, preparation for the exit of ATMIS troops by the end of 2024, and support for the government’s fight against Al-Shabaab.

The leaders of the troops are expected to support the government and regional forces in certain areas of the country and potentially join the ongoing operations.

Security in Mogadishu has been tightened during the summit, with several roads being closed and some areas potentially being put under curfew.
