Djibouti’s Human Rights Leader Dies in France

Paris (SDN)-The head of the Human Rights Agency of Djibouti Jean Paul Cabdi Noel passed away today in France after a prolonged illness that led him to seek treatment in that country.

Cabdi Noel is renowned throughout the Republic of Djibouti for his role in the colonial independence movement.

After independence Cabdi Noel became heavily involved in social activism and was a pioneer of the human rights movement.

Most recently, he became the leader of the largest coalition of human rights organizations in Djibouti.

Cabdi Noel is most known for fighting for the rights of all of Djibouti’s citizens in a fair and equal manner.

The work of Cabdi Noel often found him at odds with the government of Djibouti and led to tensions with officials.
