Do we call national dialogue or denial obstacle to progress?

Denial is asserting that a statement or allegation is not true. The same word, and also abnegation, is used for a psychological defense mechanism, which is a person faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming, but can someone can deny the fact that China has made much progress in the past two decades. In the event anyone disagreement that china made gigantic achievements for the last two decades, then that person is remote from reality.
