Federal MPs demand Las Anod accountability

Mogadisho Feb 21, 2023(SD) – A group of parliamentarians from Sool region has called on the President of Somaliland to investigate and bring to justice those responsible for the recent violence in the city of Las Anod.

A member of the Somali Parliament, Abdullahi Roble, accused the President of Somaliland of ordering his troops to attack the city of Las Anod.
Speaking about the issue, MP Abdullahi Roble revealed that Las Anod had been the site of serious and ongoing violations that required President Muse Bihi’s attention. He warned that Somaliland’s continued neglect of the city could lead to an escalation of violence, which could put the lives of the local population at risk.
MP Abdullahi Bidhan, a former Minister of Fisheries and a representative of Sool region called on the Somali government to support the stance and aspirations of the people of SSC. He argued that Somaliland’s continued aggression against SSC would undermine the unity and stability of Somalia.
He also mentioned that hundreds of civilians had been killed in Las Anod, accusing Somaliland of being responsible for the violence.”
