India to help Somalia Health sector

Deli April 28, 2023 (QJ) – Somalia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ali Haji Ahmed, accompanied by Somalia’s Deputy Ambassador to India, Ahmed Ali Dahir, held a meeting with Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, the Director General for West Asia, North and East Africa Division of India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, they focused their discussions on India’s support for Somalia’s healthcare sector, especially in addressing the current health challenges faced by the Somali population, including those affected by conflict.

India pledged to provide Somalia with medical aid and equipment to help the country improve its health care system, particularly in areas affected by conflict, and support the Somali people in their efforts to rebuild and strengthen their health sector.

Somalia’s Minister of Health visited the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, where he discussed ways to enhance cooperation and collaboration between the two countries in the health sector, including the provision of specialized medical training and scholarships for Somali doctors and healthcare professionals.
