New Somaliland Interior Minister Takes Office

Hargeisa, 29 June 2013 (SDN) – In a ceremony held on today, the new Minister of Interior Ali Mohamed Warancade has officially taken office from the outgoing Mohamed Nour Arale “Duur” who had lost his post during last week’s cabinet reshuffle.The new minister will serve as acting minister until the parliament votes on his confirmation.
In a speech at the ceremony which was held at the Interior Ministry’s headquarters, outgoing minister Mohamed Nour Arale Duur congratulated Ali Mohamed Waranade for the new post and said he was confident that this patriotic man would carry out his duties with the aim of establishing security and stability. The outgoing minister also said that tribalism has skyrocketed in the country.
The new minister Waranade said at the ceremony that he will continue the efforts of his predecessor of strengthening the security apparatus and raise the moral, efficiency and material needs of the police force.
“The country relies on the police force for establishing security and stability which is the prerequisite of the reconstruction and development of Somaliland,” Ali Waranade said. Ali Waranade was member of opposition WADDANI party and has held various ministerial positions in President Dahir Riyale’s government. To what extent the new Interior Minister will succeed time will tell. The change of guard ceremony was attended by heads of various departments at the ministry.
