Somalia commemorates Zope bombings

Mogadishu October 29, 2023 (QJ) -The Somali government has declared a national day of mourning for the deadly bombings that occurred in Mogadishu on the 29th of October last year. These bombings are among the deadliest incidents to have taken place in the city.

Government officials, as well as a large number of civilians, were among the casualties of these explosions. The bombings targeted the Ministry of Education headquarters, where two bombings occurred. A list of the names of those who lost their lives in the bombings has been released, to properly identify the victims. The government stated that there were student casualties.
The Minister of Education of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, emphasized that it is essential for Somali people to be prepared and involved in efforts to counter Al-Shabaab, who are behind such attacks.
The Minister of Education also stated that the government is providing free education for children who have lost parents in these bombings.

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for these attacks, asserting that they have targeted the Ministry of Education in Somalia.
