Hargeisa, Oct 21, 2013 (SDN) –Somaliland’s top cop Brigadier General Abdilahi Fadal Iman has confirmed the arrest of more than one hundred persons including recidivists and youngsters accused of gang formation activities in a massive security operation last night in Hargeisa. The police commissioner declared these during a press conference he held today in his office.
“Somaliland police forces have launched a massive security operation in the streets and villages of all Hargeisa districts and succeeded to detain more than one hundred suspects including recidivists who practice making offences repeatedly, where others were youngsters who are organizing themselves as gangsters and fight and kill each other in the streets of Hargeisa.” Brigadier General Fadal said during the press conference.
Brigadier General Fadal also said that latest police operation is a part of the efforts by the Police to bring stability to the capital where threat of gangs and the recidivists have been increasing in the city for the last two years
In a similar police operation two weeks ago in Hargeisa, the police arrested fifty three suspects including recidivists who practice making offences repeatedly.
