UNICEF sounds the alarm on children in Gaza

Gaza December 28, 2023 (QJ) -More than 80 children have been killed in the last 12 weeks in the occupied West Bank amid intensified military operations, according to the United Nations children’s agency UNICEF.

That number is more than double the number of children killed in all of 2022, amid increasing military operations. More than 576 were injured and others were said to have been detained. UNICEF confirmed this in a report issued Today.

Since the beginning of the year, violence has claimed the lives of 124 Palestinian children and six Israeli children, UNICEF added.

About two-thirds of those deaths have come since October 7, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing about 1,200 people and kidnapping nearly 240 others.

Since then, Israel has carried out retaliatory attacks on Hamas targets in Gaza, killing more than 21,300 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
