Hargeisa, 21 Jan 2014 (SDN) –Edna Adan Ismail discusses what drives her to live a life dedicated to caring for the sick. She donated everything she owned, including a UN pension and personal assets, to build a maternity hospital in a place where 4,000 women die in childbirth each year. She turned a garbage dump site in Somaliland into a non-profit hospital that has delivered more than 14,000 babies and trained hundreds of nurses and midwives over the past decade. Edna Adan Ismail, a former First Lady of Somalia, lives a life dedicated to caring for the sick. She joins The Stream at 19:30 GMT to share her inspiring story.
