Plenty of people find it amusing that Somalia is mediating peace talks in South Sudan. I mean, isn’t this Somalia were talking about? The South Sudan is facing internal problems but, since when was Somalia qualified enough to mediate a peace agreement?
Foreign Minister of Somalia, Fosiya Haji Adan was in the IGAD led delegation that embarked on a peacemaking trip to South Sudan.
In Somalia, remains the world’s most failed state. The world has, over 15 times, attempted to resolve internal wars in Somalia. However, the problem persists: Tribal wars, dangerous politics and overwhelming chaos. Any and all government officials must be protected by an African Union peacekeeper.
Of recent news, there have been numerous murders against a tribe at odds with the President’s tribe. This is emerging as a major obstacle in the capital city of neighboring nation Somalia.
It’s quite ironic that Somalia is mediating discussions in South Sudan whilst the capital city and Somalia as a whole is engulfed in fear and poverty. This is a joke. The President of Somalila should focus more on resolving matters in the country he leads rather than gaining international appeal by joining the South Sudan bandwagon.
