About the Event: The guest speaker for this event is Debi Goodwin, author of Citizens of Nowhere: From Refugee Camps to Canadian Campus. The book is about Somali refugee youth from the refugee camps in Kenya and their journey to Canada as students sponsored by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
About Sahan Literary Forum:
We are a group of Somali women who love reading and formed a literary circle, SAHAN LITERARY FORUM. Like our ancestors searched for water and greener pastures, we are always in search of good books that feed the imagination and nourish the soul. At this time our focus is on books written by authors that originate from the Horn of Africa who are writing about that region and also books written about the Horn of Africa. Our past guest speakers include Nuruddin Farrah and Nadifa Mohamed.
