Somaliland Is A Hog – Tied Nation By The International Community

History like other subjects in the school curriculum, history has it’s own aims or purpose. An aim is the conscious purpose which we keep before our minds while we are doing a thing or after having done. In general, the aims of teaching history are usually general and long term goals which are desired to be realized through teaching history. History aims at helping students to understand the present existing social, political, religious, and economic conditions of the people. The present is in fact the child of the past. Without the knowledge of history we can’t have the background of our religious, customs institutions, administrations and so on. Our present conditions are thus the result of the past problems. To understand the present, we must see the past which is hidden in it. Some people consider it to be so important that they are in favour of teaching history backwards. They would start with the present items and then go back in reverse order, till they reach the stone – age. It is to be realized that history Is a study of the present and not the dead past. We have no time to tell Grandma’s tales of the past. Teaching of history helps the students to explain the present, to analyze it and trace it’s course of cause and effect relationship between the past and the present, is lively presented in the history. History thus helps us to understand the present day problems both at the national level and international level, accurately and objectively. Thus understanding enables us to lead useful and efficient lives of understanding each other. We should feel that history is interesting and that it has a real bearing on our everyday life and that it is, therefore, worthwhile taking the trouble to assimilate it’s facts.

After a survey poll from the masses of Somaliland with the exception of a very few tribally oriented or motivated by personal interest. This Article expresses the sincere feelings and true views of the majority of Somalilanders. Owing to that, I am willing today to convey their message to President Hassan of Mogadishu and to the International Community. To express the true stand of the Somalilanders. The main objectives of this Article is to illustrate to the International Community and to President Hassan and his followers. How different we are in all aspects, physically and mentally; and that we share nothing in common. We are different in our culture and customs, in our ethics, in our understanding, and in our way of thinking, challenge and perception of life. Even our understanding of religion and spirit of nationalism varies. Above all that, my aim is to let Mr.Hassan know how much deeply we hate him, as a leader of nowhere.

It is sad and funny, always to hear the Western leaders claiming that they are the cradle of peace, justices, democracy, and acting as a human rights advocate. Giving the freedom of choice to a sixteen year old girl to free her from the custody of her parents. At the same time ignoring and giving a blind eye to the Self – Determination and the will of choice of a whole Nation.

That is a contradiction to the false slogans of the western world. It is unfair in rank and file. Sir, being white doesn’t make you right. Honestly speaking, it is funny and sad. Hog – tying a whole Nation like a pig, until the wild beasts in Mogadishu to be castrated, tamed, and act as a human being. It is sad but true. Nobody will listen, but we must try our best, rather than being a suicidal – bomber like Al – Shabab and other radical Islamists. Because yesterday was a painful memory, today is dark, and there is no a promising tomorrow on the horizon.

For the record: President Hassan, before 1963 importing Jaat or selling it was prohibited and it was regarded as a drug, and illegal commodity in the Ex Italian Colony. There were no Jaat consumers in the Ex Italian Colony whatsoever, and it was totally banned. While in the Ex British Colony drinking or selling any kind of alcohol was illegal and prohibited under the Indian Panel Code. The only source of getting alcohol in Somaliland was the Hargeisa Club, and it was managed by a strict authoritarian British lady called Mrs.Smith. Selling Alcohol from the local Somali people was illegal and prohibited by the Law. With the exception of only four well known boozers in the whole Country of Somaliland. Those four personalities had a special immunity and privileged for some reasons I can’t trace out by now. !) Aboker Haji Ali Koshin who was a Somalilander that had immigrated from South Africa. 2) Abdo Sufi whom his roots were from Aden but born and bred in Hargeisa, and he used to be a reporter for Radio Hargeisa. 3) Ali omer Yeey, a Somalilander from Hargeisa District that used to be a telegrapher sea – man. 4) Mr.Hugur who was a Somalilander mechanic used to work for the public works Department ( PWD ). After 1963 we had exchanged the two bad habits. The Italian Colony adopted the bad habit of eating Jaat, and the Somalilanders embraced the habit of drinking alcohol. Because it is free and nobody recognizes their identity in Mogadishu.

President Hassan, do you know that in 1963 there was a primary school in Mogadishu called Moallin Jama, named after the father of Education in the Italian Colony. Next to the school there was a Bar for selling Alcohol, next a Prostitute house, next a Mosque for praying. Mark my word, I am not lying.

President Hassan, do you know that after the unification, the first minister of Agriculture was a Somalilander called Ahmed Haji Dualeh (Ahmed Kaysay). During his first year in office he discovered that most of the labour and subordinate Banana farm workers are working on the bases, food for work and they don’t draw monthly wages for three or four generations. That was stunning and raised his eyes brows. He brought the report to the National Assembly ( Parliament ) at that time; with the intention of a compensational offer to those Somalis Banana farm workers. By dividing the land between the Italian Banana farm owners and the Somali slave – farm workers. That proposal resulted in the National Assembly a Boo of disapproval and contempt to the nationalist minister.

After unanimous rejection to the minister’s proposal; Mr.Ahmed Kayse, the minister of Agriculture resigned, not only the minister’s post, but also abandoned his seat in the National Assembly. Exclaimed and cried out loudly saying. The country is still an Italian Colony.

President Hassan, do you know that in the primary and secondary schools of Somaliland there was a subject called “ CIVICS “ in their syllabus . It was the learning of how Government runs, operates and works, and different kinds of Governments. The rights of the citizens, and their obligation towards their country. After the unified curriculum of the schools; the bureaucrats from the south in the ministry of education excluded the subject from the syllabus. Claiming that it is not healthy to teach politics to the kids in the schools. See President Hassan, how ignorant your intellectuals were at that time. Because they couldn’t figure out that these kids of today are the future generation that will run the country in the near future. Now can you see how dumb you were?

My poor President, do you know that the father of education in Somaliland saw during his yearly inspection in the primary schools. He inspected a teacher named Abdirazak Abubakar, from the Italian Colony teaching grade one pupils. After the inspection, the father of education Mr.Mohamoud Ahmed Ali realized that the teacher was spreading disease, not education. According to that, he expelled him from the Ministry Of education. Unfortunately, during the military rule of Siyad Bare that expelled teacher, was nominated as the minister of education of Somalia. While Mr.Mohamoud Ahmed Ali is the educational advisor of the Ministry of education. Here then, Mr.Abdirazak Abubakar expelled the father of education from his post as an advisor for the ministry of education. Simply because the Father of education couldn’t convince the Minister Abdirazak Abubaker that the Boarding Schools in Somaliland are attended by those poor students that their parents are nomadic, camel drivers, and couldn’t afford to keep their kids in towns due to their financial difficulties. But the minister insisted on his stand to raise the school fee of the Boarding schools in Somaliland; claiming that these boarding schools were built for the kids of the rich business men in Somaliland. Ignorance is a disaster.

My poor President Hassan, can you imagine before the unification, nobody could dare to address in public, a prostitute girl in Somaliland and you couldn’t knock her house – door until you are introduced to her by a friend. Can you see that our prostitute was more respectable than your imam in the Mosque that accepts to be neighboured by a prostitute house. Will you believe that it was shame and disgrace to our sultans and chiefs to eat or drink in public places.

The president of the mafia Red Bridgades in Mogadishu has no a clue of his dark past or of his present status – quo of hellish santanism, and a president to nowhere. That is why his moral – compass is betrayed, speaking always dismissive arrogant language like his old Godfathers of the Italian mafia.

President Hassan, let me remind you that you were not existing in the Global World Map before you got united with the British Colony, Somaliland Protectorate. Neither we as Somalilanders, nor the rest of the World knew your where about. You were detained mentally, and physically in a small container called Rome, which was the cradle and shelter of the World Mafia. Those Mafia group were your masters and spiritual leaders, and you were always under their thumb. Mr. president, you owe me an old favour of being your pioneer, who had opened for you all gates of life, and knowledge, and had introduced you to the civilized World. You were a lonely dumb child who speaks only the Italian language. On the contrary, the Somalilanders were familiar with all World continents like Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, Australia, and all the Arab World. Can you believe that there is a street named after a Somalilander and it is called Omer Australia. Another street in Mecca, Saudi Arabia named after a Somalilander who killed seven Saudi citizen simply because they have called him, a slave. He was hung but the street was named after him. As Somalilanders, we have tried our best to teach you the spirit of nationalism, patriotism, and all the arts of knowledge that you are indulging right now. But you proved yourself as ungrateful, stubborn child, that is difficult to be tamed. In reality, as Somalilander, you owe me a big favour but you gave us a bad turn.

President Hassan, all what I have gained from your acquaintances is nothing but corruption, nepotism, abuse of power, pornography, loss of Self Esteem and family values, selfishness, and dismay. Above all that, you compelled me to spend my golden time and age, my youth flowering stage, in a foreign land, to live in exile. You have destroyed and robbed all my childhood sweet memories, my inspirations, my dream in life, my self – esteem, my promising expectations and my prospects in life. You have taken the love of our hearts and you have put water in our veins. Moreover, all Somalilanders from Elaayo to Looya – Addo have the same culture, customs, tribal and religious ethics; while you have so many Gods, cultures, and languages. President Hassan, to make the long story short. We can’t be associated with your wild heartless beasts that steals the gold teeth from the dead body. Period ! Count me out for ever. I will prefer to be friendly with the devil instead of being with you. Enough is enough.

Mr.False president, do you know until the arrival of prime minister Abdirazak Haji Hussein. All your Government Departments Building Offices were located in an area of five hundreds square meters called, ( Fisho Guferno ) and the entry was illegal unless you are driving a vehicle. That was a leaflet circular rule written by the Italian authority before independence. For example an employee from a certain department is transferred from Hargeisa to Mogadishu. He is supposed to report himself to his department. How he can do that. Because he has no access to his ministry’s office, as he has no a vehicle. At the same time there is no a single person In Mogadishu who owns a car that the employee knows at that particular time .

Nobody could get the guts to change the rule until Prime Minister Abdirazak Haji Hussein had become the prime minister of Somalia. Do you know that Abdirazak Haji Hussein was the only legitimate, politician with a nationalist spirit, and a vision since now and then. Because of his honesty and strict rules; he has lost his post as a prime minister. During his Era, the freedom of speech, press and the media were totally free. He formed the first and the last Government of Law and Order. A Government with ethics, and nobody was above the law.. Not whom you know, but what you know. Above that, he strongly believed that the Somalilanders are more mature enough than the people from the south;, educationally, socially, and politically. But due to his fairness, his regime never lasted long. Even his brothers and close friends deserted him because of his loyalty to the country and due to his true ambition for a Government that plays by the rules, under the constitutional guidelines. He had tried to eradicate all tribal privilege, regionalism, nepotism, and corruption. He even expelled his real brother as a head Government employee and hired another capable citizen. Honestly speaking, he was less educiated than the other prime ministers; yet he was the only nationalist, honest, and efficient prime minister with a vision and daring guts that we ever had in Somalia. He is the only Somali politician that I harbour respect and I adorn him as an honest leader with iron guts and vision.

Dear Somalilanders, in the first years of the twenty one century. The country Yaman was ruled by a tyrant dictator King called Imam Yahya. He had a lot of secret services staff and under cover to report to his attention any trivial matter or incident. To scare the people and convince them that he is aware of any tiny affair. He wrote on the walls of the buildings some slogans saying, “ the wall has ears. “ Then one day a crazy guy wrote under each slogans of the King. If the wall has ears, the people has eyes. Dear Somalilanders, whenever I quit writing and roll up my sleeves, and pack up my papers and pens. Then somebody like the green boy messenger of the foreign affairs tickles my throat. Then I start again to bet on the wron horse. This nihilistic rule of Mr.Silanyo with the help of his green boy messenger of the foreign affairs. Is leading us to the secret conversations of Henery Kissinger conspiracy, plot – diplomacy, of step by step of 1973 for the middle – east. Singing those lullaby soothing songs of Grandma that sends a child to sleep. Pronouncing that rhetorical language of dubiously overwhelming expressions, in the epochal moment of our life history. Participating secretly to the Kenyan Conference on 29 May instant that was held for the financial investment of Mogadishu. An insider in the Oval – Office of Mr.Silanyo has tipped us privately that the Somaliland delegation was representing the Dahabshiil Cooperation, not Somaliland Government. More disgustingly our Ambassador in Kenya Mr.Mohamed Abdillahi Sifer and our Foreign Affairs Minister were humiliated and were forced to throw their Badges as Somalilanders in the trash – can. Openly has been told that they are unwanted in there as participants. That is a crying shame against Somaliland. Mr.Silanyo, we are all eyes and ears. Please don’t sign your death contract.

Somalilanders, we must guess the pulp before we cut the peel. Fortune does not lie at the end of the rainbow, it is found behind obstacles. Black fowl can lay white eggs. Go back to history and let us revise the old pages of history.. For how long, China was struggling for her seat in the UNO? From 1945 up to 25 October1971. In October 25, 1971 the UN general Assembly passed Resolution 2758, and was recognized the People Republic of China as the only legitimate representative of China. Then Chiang Kai Shek was expelled from the UNO.

Somalilanders, we will never give up because fortune is on the side of the bald and the daring. Against love and fortune there is no defense. Mr.Silanyo, don’t be a follower. Believe in yourself as a pioneer. Friday and the week days are seldom alike. A lullaby is a soothing song to send a child to sleep. We are all eyes and ears.

Somalilanders, play it cool but don’t freeze it up. Mr.Silanyo gets and forgets. Somalilanders gives and forgives. Today is dark, yesterday was a painful memory, and there is no a promising tomorrow on the horizon.

Mr.Silanyo, your side of the road is always dusty.

Yusuf Deyr, the lonely heart from Hargeisa.

Edmonton, Canada.
