Hargeisa, 04 July 2013 (SDN) – In a ceremony held on today, Somaliland’s new Fisheries and marine resources Minister Ali Jama Farah assumed the charge of his office on today after his predecessor Abdilahi Osman Geeljire deployed to the presidency. In a speech at the ceremony held at the Fisheries Ministry’s headquarters, outgoing minister Abdilahi Osman Geeljire gave him a briefing over working and performance of the ministry and its attached departments. Senior officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting.
The new minister Ali Jama Farah praised his predecessor for diverse achievements garnered during his tenure and informed that he shall not only on the path laid but never hesitate to consult Geeljire whenever the need arises. The change of guard ceremony was also attended by Somaliland’s information minister Abdilahi Cukuse .
Information minister has lain to rest the Confusion surrounding the official office of former Fisheries minister after he lost his post during a recent cabinet reshuffle by President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo that saw a number of new ministers appointed, others transferred or fired. “I congratulate the outgoing fisheries minister who has not left the government but is expected to shortly assume new duties the presidency” said the information minister during a handover ceremony at the fisheries ministry.
